What is the event? Bike Palo Alto is a fun, family-friendly event encouraging Palo Alto residents to reduce their carbon footprints and ride bikes more often – for local shopping trips, for getting around the city, for fun! Bike Palo Alto highlights Palo Alto’s great bike routes and provides activities and information to demonstrate how biking for local trips in Palo Alto can be easy and convenient. Leave the parking and congestion hassles behind, get on your bikes, and have fun while being part of the solution!
What’s NEW this Year? In addition to the usual free treat stops, try new experiences along the way. Visit the Great Glass Pumpkin Patch to view a live glass-blowing demonstration, or enjoy docent-guided activities at the EcoCenter and Lucy Evans Interpretive Nature Center to learn about baylands ecosystems, or meet the donkey from Shrek!
How much does it cost to participate? Bike Palo Alto is FREE.
What do I need to bring? Bring your bike, helmet, and water bottle.
When and where is the event? Sunday, September 29th, 2019 from 1-3 PM. start at Fairmeadow Elementary School (500 East Meadow Drive).
What happens at the start point? When you arrive at Fairmeadow Elementary School, register, sign a waiver form, get your route map and a hand stamp. To save time, you can pre-register in advance (highly recommended!) at Eventbrite or you can register in person on event day. Check out booths and information tables with bike resource information and services, including quick bike checks and helmet fitting. Head out for your ride! The routes stay open until 4 PM. for those who want to spend more time.
Do I need my own bike to participate? No bike? No problem! Many local bike shops provide bike rentals by the day. Visit our resource page for links to local shops.
Who is hosting the event? We at Bike Palo Alto, volunteers all, are enthusiastic about promoting active, healthy, and green ways to get around our town. We’re especially interested in introducing entry-level bicyclists to convenient routes for everyday errands and outings. Give it a try!
